We’re delighted to announce the 2020 Pub of the Year and Cider Pub of the Year!
The winner of the Pub of the Year is The Lordship Arms, Benington, and the runner up was last year’s winner the Red Lion in Preston. The Lordship Arms is located a few miles from Stevenage, and offers a range of 9 casks ales which are always served in excellent condition. Alan and Daphne Marshall have run the pub since 1993, congratulations to them and the Lordship Arms team for winning the North Herts POTY.
The Branch Cider Pub of the Year is the Garden City Brewery in Letchworth Garden City. Congratulations to Nick, Holly and their team on winning the Cider POTY, an award they previously won in 2018. The pub is currently offering a take away and delivery service, please check their Facebook page for opening times and the beers and ciders available. They are partnered us in the Hitchin Beer & Cider Festival Goes Virtual! campaign and ran a ‘Lockdown 4th Birthday Cider Festival’, at which a replica of their award was presented, and photographed by Festival double quiz winner and freelance photographer, Jamie Meek.
We will announce the date for the Lordship Arms and formal Garden City Brewery presentations once the current restrictions are lifted and the pubs reopen. At present the county and regional stages of the POTY competition are also on hold.
Hearty congratulations to both pubs, their teams and regular customers!
At the same shoot Jamie photographed a replica Cider Pub of the Year 2020 certificate being presented to Garden City Brewery as they celebrated the accolade AND their 4th birthday with a LOCKDOWN CIDER FESTIVAL on June 11th – 13th. [See separate post for POTY announcements] […]
